Levels of Play

All age groups except Shetland operate using an "and under" designation.

Thus a Mustang aged player may play in the Bronco league, etc.
Players may only play up one age bracket.
Shetland
Ages 6 and under.
Focuses on instruction of the beginning player. 
Players learn the fundamentals of baseball. 
Game play is a combination of coach pitch and a batting tee. 
A Safe-soft ball is used for safety. 
Games are limited to one hour and all team members bat and play the field each inning. 
No game score or standings are kept. 
When possible, players are assigned to teams with their schoolmates. 
An emphasis is placed on scheduling games with teams from within the same District. 
Each player receives a baseball jersey, pants, and a hat. 
 
Pinto
Ages 8 & Under.
Players continue to learn the basic fundamentals of baseball with an introduction to more advance concepts.
When possible, players are assigned to teams with their schoolmates.
An emphasis is placed on scheduling games with teams from within the same District.
Each player receives a baseball jersey, pants, and a hat.
Pinto division 2 utilizes Machine Pitching.
Pinto division 1 utilizes Player Pitching.

Mustang
Ages 10 & Under.
Players begin training in the complete game of baseball.
Games are played with regulation baseballs, base stealing is permitted; leadoffs, and pitching from the stretch are introduced.
The pitching mound is 46 feet. Limited balks and dropped third strike are also in effect. Teams are comprised of players from within the same District. There are no tryouts. Coaches are allowed to develop teams but recruiting of players from other teams is actively discourages. Divisions are made up of similar caliber teams. The regular season includes games with teams from within the same division. Interlock games against teams from other leagues may also be played. There is an end of season tournament. Each player receives a baseball jersey, pants, and a hat.

Bronco
Ages 12 & Under.
Players continue their development in the complete game of baseball.
The diamond is extended to 70 feet and the pitching mound is 50 feet.
There is a stricter enforcement of balks.
Teams are compromised of players from within the same District.
There are no tryouts.
Coaches are allowed to develop teams but recruiting of players from other teams is actively discouraged.
Divisions are made up of similar caliber teams.
The regular season includes games with teams from within the same division.
Interlock games against teams from other leagues may also be played.
There is an end of season tournament.
Each player receives a baseball jersey, pants, and a hat. 

Pony
Ages 14 & Under.
Players continue their development in the complete game of baseball.
The diamond is extended to 80 feet and the pitching mound is 54 feet.
Teams may be comprised of players from throughout the city.
Divisions are made up of similar caliber teams.
The regular season includes games with teams from within the same division.
Interlock games against teams from other leagues may also be played.
There is an end of season tournament.
Each player receives a full baseball uniform.
Colt/Palomino
Ages 18 & Under with the exception of three (3) 19 year olds per roster.
Provides players an opportunity to play full regulation baseball.
The diamond and pitching distance is the same size as high school, college and professional baseball.
Because players at this level are high school age the Palomino season starts later than the others to allow players the opportunity to play high school baseball.
With a 20+ game schedule, teams at this level play an interlocked schedule against teams from throughout Western Washington.
Each player receives a full baseball uniform.

 **The Colt and Palomino leagues are combined into the Palomino U league in SSB. 
Palomino rosters may include up to three (3) 19 year olds.
